Exam format

TEF Canada Speaking Test Format

The TEF Canada speaking test lasts 15 minutes and has 2 official sections. Section A (5 minutes) is a face-to-face information-seeking exchange with the examiner. Section B (10 minutes) is an argument to persuade an interlocutor. This practice simulates those two sections with timed recordings (a live human examiner cannot be fully reproduced online).

• Section A — 5 minutes: obtain information by asking questions.
• Section B — 10 minutes: argue to persuade, including responding to resistance.
